Dangerous Dogs Act 1991

Since 31 December 2023 it has been against the law to sell or give away American Bully XL dogs.

The American Bully is a modern breed of dog that was developed as a companion dog and originally standardized and recognized as a breed in 2004 by the American Bully Kennel Club.

So What Is An XL American Bully?

The XL American Bully is a larger variant of the Standard American Bully known for its massive head, broad chest, and muscular build. The height of an adult female XL Bully is from 19 inches (48cm) at the withers. Other physical characteristics of an XL Bully according to Defra are as follows:

  • Short, dense coat that comes in a variety of colors and patterns
  • Large, muscular head with a prominent jaw
  • Broad chest and shoulders
  • Short, powerful legs
  • Tail that is typically docked

The XL Bully is a powerful and athletic dog that requires plenty of exercise and socialization to stay happy and healthy.
