Terence Crawford Wins WBA Super Welterweight Title

Unanimous Decision Victory over Israil Madrimov

OMAHA, Neb. (Aug. 14, 2023) - Terence Crawford extended his undefeated record to 41-0 with a unanimous decision victory over Israil Madrimov on Saturday night at the CHI Health Center Omaha.

Crawford Dominates Madrimov

Crawford, the reigning WBO welterweight champion, moved up to super welterweight to challenge Madrimov for the WBA title. The fight was a one-sided affair, with Crawford controlling the pace and landing the cleaner punches throughout.

Crawford dropped Madrimov with a left hook in the fifth round and came close to finishing the fight in the 10th round with a flurry of punches. However, Madrimov showed great heart and toughness to survive and make it to the final bell.

Crawford's Pound-for-Pound Status

With his victory over Madrimov, Crawford solidified his status as one of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the world. He has now won titles in three different weight classes and has never lost a fight.

Crawford's next fight is expected to be against Errol Spence Jr., the undisputed welterweight champion. The two fighters have been rumored to be on a collision course for years, and the winner of their showdown would be crowned the undisputed king of the welterweight division.
