Olympic Basketball Qualifiers 2024: Four Teams Secure Final Spots
Four teams have secured the final spots for the men's basketball tournament at the Olympic Games Paris 2024.
The teams that will join the host nation France in the Olympic tournament are:
- Japan
- Mexico
- Venezuela
The teams were decided at the 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments, which were held in four cities around the world. The tournaments featured 16 teams that were vying for the four remaining spots in the Olympic tournament.
The final spots were decided in thrilling fashion, with Japan defeating Mexico in the final game of the tournament in Belgrade, Serbia. Venezuela secured its spot in the Olympics by winning the tournament in Split, Croatia.
The 2024 Olympic Games will be held in Paris, France from July 26th to August 11th. The basketball tournament will be held at the Accor Arena in Paris.
The four teams that have qualified for the Olympic tournament will join the 12 teams that have already qualified through the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023. The 16 teams will be divided into four pools of four teams each. The top two teams from each pool will advance to the quarterfinals.
The United States is the defending gold medalist in men's basketball. They will be looking to win their fourth consecutive Olympic gold medal in Paris.
