'Wherever they need me, I'm ready': Rams set to have Jonah Jackson start at center

Jackson to replace Coleman at center, Skowronek likely to make first career start against Browns.

After facing some early struggles with injuries and consistency across the offensive line, the Los Angeles Rams will have a new face at center against the Browns.

The Rams will be without starting center Brian Allen (knee) and Coleman Shelton (ankle), who both suffered injuries in the team's Week 2 loss to the Bills, according to head coach Sean McVay.

With Allen and Shelton out, the Rams will turn to Jonah Jackson to start at center. Jackson, a third-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, has started 12 games at center in his career, including two starts last season.

McVay said he is confident in Jackson's ability to step in and start at center.

"Jonah has done a great job for us," McVay said. "He's a smart, tough player. He's got great leadership skills. I know he's going to be ready to go."

In addition to the changes at center, the Rams are also expected to have receiver Ben Skowronek make his first career start against the Browns.

Skowronek, a seventh-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, has appeared in five games for the Rams this season, but he has yet to start.

With Van Jefferson (knee) and Tutu Atwell (hamstring) both out with injuries, Skowronek is expected to get the start opposite Cooper Kupp.

McVay said he is excited to see what Skowronek can do in his first start.

"Ben is a guy that we've been really impressed with," McVay said. "He's a tough, physical receiver. He's got great hands. I know he's going to be ready to go."
